Presentation of Sydney.
The third puppy was a beautiful male with great
wide collar with a small black "medallion" on one side. When I
looked at leis that were on the picture, I found one that
corresponded precisely to the white collar of Sydney. White Ginger
Lei is very exclusive, only worn at special occasions.
If you take a look back at historical pictures the lei is borne on,
among others, the chief of Polynesian villages.
That he then became known as Sydney is another story. When we
visited Australia in 1997, we met a collie breeder who had a couple
of three-coloured collie we became extremely fond of. When we got
Alice, she was named after "Alice Spring in Australia and her only
son was named" Sydney ", after the capital of the country.
Sydney is, since he was a little puppy, very independent. While his
four sisters were playing and fighting he could spend his time with
his own affairs. Suddenly, he was however committed to his sisters
wild games.
He was a little escapologist, climbed out the puppy bench, toddled
out of the bedroom and into the hall. If his sisters try to take his
food he was growling.
Sydney was my favorite and Alice treated him as he was special. She
was very fond of her boy. We had initially decided that we would
keep a female, but as the time went by we became more and more
interested in Sydney keeping here.
Stina, Alice breeder at Kennel Angeleye's wanted him too. We were
thinking a lot about what to do, we were very fond of all the four
females too. The last day we decided to let Sydney move to Öland. We
realized that he would be better off among the five females at
Stinas - sole king at the kennel. Here, he had certainly been
properly oppressed by Gordon and Josef. We solved it well, Stina and
I own Sydney together.
Sydney loved to carry around all kind of things and his favorite was
a squirrels nest, rubber boat, and some noisy toys which he is often
used to irritate the girls. When we for the first time should give
the puppies large marrowbones they were 6 weeks old. When Sydney got
his bone, he was just to himselves. The females took their bones and
began to gnaw at them directly. Sydney went around with his bone in
his mouth and looked so incredibly proud and growl out loud. When he
finally found a good place to settle and start eating he was
growling all the time. Licked, chewed, growled - it sounded so sweet
and funny.
We went up to him and took his bone and looked at it, gave it back
again to show him that this is what we humans do, but the females
were not allowed to look in his direction, or go near because then
he spit as an angry cat. The little boy showed for the first time
that he was indeed master of the yard and his bone were sacred, the
best he had since he was born! He had not made a great fuss about
himself - now suddenly he was a great guy!
Stina says that he, during his childhood at the kennel is always
careful to have his meals to his own, separated from the other dogs
and he bones too, he wants them alone. He is a wonderfully pleasant
and popular dog, never fighting but is very positive and signal safe.
He is very social and fearless.
We visited Öland and met Sydney in August 2008, when he was just
over 14 months. We had some wonderful days together. He got to try a
few tracks which he did great, thought it was funny. He was
practicing a little "budföring", or basic training for messenger
dog. Oh, what it went fast, that boy can run!
Sydney have been shown at dog shows a few times with good results.
He has received a good assessment of his body, head and movements,
but he is a young male and need to develop his forechest a bit more,
and especially be able to control his happy tail. He has good croup
and a long nice tail, he also have a very happy and wonderful
temperament that makes him happy to raise the tail!
Sydney is HD / ED x-rayed with the best results HD A and ua (0). The
entire litter has A-hips and 0 on the elbows.
Eye examined as an adult with ua, "free" (slightly CRD as a puppy).
He did the MH (mental description) together with his four sisters in
October 19, 2008.
All went through the track without residual fears and ended with
playing at least as intense as in the beginning and was shot proof.
None of them had put on some memories. Four of them got "1" (the
best) in gun shot and one got "3".
We also noted that Sydney and his four sisters not for a moment
thought badly of floors and surfaces. They all visited our house as
well as the neighbour's house with shiny parquet, clinkers, marble
floors and open stairs.
A very social, pleasant, cheerful and friendly young boy!
